Screenings of our Videos

A family 0f 13 lived at 66 Macdonell Ave. in Parkdale, not far from the High Park Library branch. In one of our latest videos, Daniel Buckles tells the story of three of their sons who ended up in the trenches of World War I.

Back Lane Studios at the Libraries!

Earlier this year, we showed some of our short documentaries at the Yorkville Library Branch. We had quite a number of videos centred on that neighbourhood. We thank the libraries Senior Services Specialist Vanessa Sparks and Yorkville branch librarian Zoe Johnstone for the opportunity.

We have two more shows at the library coming up:

High Park Library branch: Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Since we are based in Roncesvalles, we have made quite a few documentaries over the years from this neighbourhood. Why not join us and meet some of your neighbours. We will also have some of our video-making participants join us!

Annette Library Branch: Tuesday, November 10 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The inspiration for our Mapping our Memories project came from Lois Broad. A group of seniors interviewed her and created the documentary Growing up in the Junction. It now has more than 9,000 views. That told us that people are interested in seniors’ stories about their neighbourhoods. Sadly, Lois passed away last year at the age of 97. She is sorely missed, but her contagious laugh and story-telling prowess lives on in the videos she made. Join us at the Annette library to watch videos from Lois and others who have taken part in our project.
